Hello and welcome to the April 2026 newsletter for Laughing Duck Farm! April is one of my favorite months for several reasons, one of which being that it is the month of potential. The dark days of winter and being cozy by the fire are done. The time for working hard is stretching out in front of me and I feel ready for it. I’m so excited for the arrival of chicks and baby pigs. The little baby goats are bouncing around, ready to be released into the not quite ready pastures. The work load is still fairly light but I can see all the excitement just around the corner.

In July I will be tired and wondering what the heck I was so excited about. by July I will be exhausted by the long days. I will decide that I don’t want to pull weeds in the garden. I’ll be regretting the eighty five tomato plants and the resulting midnight canning sessions, but for now I revel in the excitement of April. Soon the grass will be green. Soon the yard will be full of flowers and baby animals. Soon everything around me will be so full of life and health that it will almost be overwhelming. The joy I feel in this time of year comes from seeing the dreamy parts without yet having to deal with the aching back!

In the Store

We have been doing a lot of rearranging in the store to make room for new items. I try to get one new item every month and this month we have added quite a few! We now have pottery and kitchen utensils, both locally made. We also now carry an oxygen cleaner for your laundry and gluten free pizza crust for your tummy. Next month we will also be getting another new item, custom made for our store! Stay tunes to hear more about that!

On the Farm

Baby goats are here! As of the writing of this newsletter there have been eight baby goats born. This year has been very heavy with boys. We have had seven boys and just one tiny girl! We still have several mommas left to go so it will be very interesting to see how it ends up. Chicks will start arriving near the end of April and pigs in May. We will be offering classes on both. You can now keep track of our classes both on facebook and on our BRAND NEW WEBSITE! I am very excited about that and you can check it out at www.laughingduckfarmwi.com . Also, you can still order whole and half pigs for your freezer. Contact me for more information about those!

Bulk Food Ordering

This month’s bulk food order is due by Saturday, April 4th at 7pm and will be available for pickup on Friday, April 10 after 4:30pm. Just a reminder that I do not have a lot of extra freezer space so as the weather warms you may not want to leave items that need to remain cold here for very long. Your next opportunity for a bulk order will be Friday, May 15th with orders due Saturday, May 9th.

To place a bulk order, just send me an email with a list of each item, its item number and the price. Including all three things makes my life much easier and reduces confusion. I have tried to organize everything the best I can by groups, but if you go through everything, you might find some surprises. Sometimes things don’t appear where I think they should be! Once you place your order, you just sit back and anticipate all of the wonderful things coming your way. Then, on April 10, any time after 4:30, you drive out to the farm at 2482 170th ave Emerald WI and load up your vehicle. Or your friend’s vehicle.

This month a lot of things will be on sale that we sell a lot of! The Walnut Creek 9 oz jams and jellies are on sale. Also, my favorite, the Woeber’s horseradish sauce 372384 is on sale. I love putting that on top of my eggroll in a bowl recipe. If you are one of the many people who are addicted to the Apple Cinnamon granola that we sell in the store, that is also on sale 381150. You can buy a whole case! Also, the double dipped peanuts 505151 that everyone loves are on sale. Raw sunflower seeds, perfect for sprouting or roasting fresh 714017 are on sale as well as the roasted and salted 714018. Most of the unpopped popcorn is on sale as well as all of the coconut, sweetened and unsweetened. You can really stock up this month on all kinds of items you love!

When you place your order, remember that we accept cash or check for payment and you pay upon pickup.

Well, that is it for this month. I hope you are enjoying this spring and have lots of wonderful things to look forward to. I would also like to wish a very happy Easter to all of the Easter people!

Thank you!

Kathy
